What does Bespokes Car mean?

Any cars that have "Bespokes" after their name have different terms and conditions.  We are acting as agents for Bespokes Classic Car Hire.   As such please see the drop down "Bespokes" tab under F&Q for more information. 

How to book...

Simply give us a call or email us on the contact page and we will confirm availability.  This is the same for our cars and for the ones called Bespokes. We will then email over confirmation.  

How can I pay for the booking and deposit?
We will take a debit or credit card over the phone at the time of booking for your hire deposit.  When you collect your car on the day of hire we will take a security deposit on your credit card in case of any damage to the car during your hire. This will be refunded to you as soon as we inspect the car on your return if it is damage free.

Can I change or cancel my booking?
Up to 8 weeks before the hire we will happily change the date of your booking free of charge. If you have to cancel between 8 weeks and 14 days of the booking we will issue you with a 50% of your hire price in gift vouchers so we can welcome you back another day. Within 14 days of the hire date no refund can be given.  Please note that we are not able to allow you to reschedule your hire because it is going to rain on your chosen day. We would of course happily reschedule your hire in the event of the weather being so severe that the hire would be unsafe in our opinion,

Can we have more than one Driver? 
Of course for a small additional fee of £25.

Can we park our car?
Yes you are very welcome to park your car here it would be totally at your own risk.

Can you deliver the car?
We would be happy to deliver the car to you, please call us for a quote.

Can we use the car for film work? 
You are very welcome to do so, please call us to discuss.

What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring your current driving licence for you and any additional drivers (additional drivers must be present), we require a National Insurance number from each driver. We will need a credit card to take a security deposit at the start of each hire. Don't forget your sun hat, sunglasses, sun cream it is hot down here in Kent.

Can you recommend somewhere to go?
We have worked out several circular routes to take in the best of the local countryside and views. These will be in a pack in the car for you to use. See the Local information page for many ideas of the brilliant things to do round and about us. We have added places to stay and pubs and restaurants you might like.

Where can we stay?
We can supply you with a list of recommended places to stay from self-catering to B&B to boutique hotels.

What if the weather is bad?
If the weather would make the hire of our car unsafe we reserve the right to cancel the booking, offering you a full refund or an alternative date. If the weather is just not too great I am afraid that is beyond our control and we are not able to reschedule hires for this reason.  Sorry but we all know how the english weather can be.

Gift vouchers
Are available for a monetary value or an experience, all gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from issue. They cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash.

Fuel
We provide the car with fuel and ask you to bring it back with the same amount of fuel. If you would rather not we will charge you upon your return for the used fuel and a refueling charge a minimum of £20.

Reliability and breakdown
Look guys these are old cars and very special. We maintain our cars to a high standard. We will not hire a vehicle to you with a known safety or reliability issue. However, it is the nature of classic cars that they are less reliable and require more maintenance than your modern car. Similarly, parts supply for such vehicles is not easy. It is therefore important that you accept the increased risk of non-availability or breakdown before or on hire as an inherent element of hiring one of our vehicles.

In the event that we cannot provide the vehicle you have booked for your chosen hire dates. We will do our best to offer you an alternative date or an alternative car. If this is not convenient to you we will issue a full refund.

We are not responsible for any consequential loss in any circumstances arising from breakdown or non-availability. Please take specific note of this where your hire is for a wedding or other special occasion. All our cars are covered by full breakdown cover.

Insurance and damages
Fully comprehensive insurance is included with the hire and covers one person to drive.

Eligibility for insurance is as follows:

  • Drivers aged between 25 and 75 inclusive.
  • No more than 6 points in their driving licence.
  • Held a UK driving licence for not less than 3 years.
  • We can accept EU, New Zealand, Australia, USA and Canadian licences.
  • Have not been involved in an “at fault” motoring accident or loss during the previous 3 years.
  • Not subject to any mental or physical defect or infirmanity or suffered from fits or major medical complaint.

Danewest Automotive will, at their sole discretion, approach the insurers to discuss an individual case should they fail to meet all of the criteria above.  They can be nice so do ask if you are only slightly outside of this.
